Shirley J. Wilson

June 9, 1931 — September 12, 2023

Kittredge

On June 9, 1931, a very special event occured.  Shirley Joyce Lowry was born in Denver, she was destined to be a special light in the world.  She loved Jesus, her family, horses, dogs, cats, wildlife, and nature.  She was very intelligent and had a lot of common sense, she was an excellent cook, she was a great equestrian, musician, and artist extraordinaire. She made crafts and tastefully decorated everything that did not move. She loved teaching children and adults about Chrisitanity, Jesus and end-time events.

Shirley taught children's Sabbath School for over 35 years in three different churches. She was never happier than when she was teaching people how to ride horses, sharing her passion.  She loved singing in choirs and singing solo.  She played guitar and piano.  She made the best pecan pie!  Her paintings are well done, she hung in a number of art galleries around the Denver / Evergreen area.

Her early life in Denver with parents Frank and LaVona Lowry, and sisters Cindy and Ginger included the family raising chickens and big gardens and the dog, Jenny.  Her world was upended when, at age 12, her daddy, Frank Newton Lowry died.  Her life was difficult after that.  She graduated from high school, went to a year of college, the her life changed again, she married James W. Gunn and had 3 children, James Ronald Gunn (Ron) Jon Christopher Gunn (Chris) and Jaime Jeanne. They later divorced.

She did her best to cultivate her children as a single mother, reading to them at night when they were young, taking them to church, taking them on hikes, getting them to summer camp each summer, teaching them to swim, ice skate, ski, and to ride horses.  She encouraged her children's muscial and artistic learning.

In 1966 she was in Washington Park, enjoying the flowers when she encountred a handsome man, Don Wilson, and before you knew it, they were married, moved to Evergreen and started on a 56-year marriage.

As the years rolled by, Shirley started seeing a lot of grandhildren bless this world.  Mieke Bridge (Cecil), Kevin Gunn (Marnie), Michelle Muscarella (Eric), Shaina Borjas, Ryan Gunn, Trisha Ligman (Walter), Marianne Mauracooper (Hunter), Christopher (Jim), Nik, Jon (Dena), Heather Pease (Bryce)  And as time flys by, she had 27 great grand kids.

She is survived by husband, Donald E. Wilson, son Chris, (Jann), daughter Jaime Jeanne, nephews Scott Bruce (Linda), and Don Clays, and other extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her son, Ron (4/22/16), her parents, sisters Cindy and Ginger, and many extended family and friends.
She quietly slipped into rest on 9/12/23

until Jesus returns

Even So, come, LORD JESUS   Revelation 22:20
